MacIntyre's Underworld:
Vendetta
Glasgow - a city plagued by long running gangland feuds, whose homicide rate is the highest in Western Europe, twice that of London and even greater than New York.
Donal MacIntyre spent six months immersed in Glasgow's underworld getting close to a notorious criminal mastermind and hitman to uncover the fight to rule this most deadly city. It is a story of mafia-style executions, drug rackets and raw revenge. MacIntyre traces the roots to today's underworld contract killings back twenty years; to the gunning down of the son of Glasgow's last godfather.
In this uncompromising film MacIntyre talks to hitman, drug dealer and gun runner Paul Ferris about his violent past and reveals the disturbing truth behind his nickname 'The Robot'. Ferris tells MacIntyre that he first realised his capacity for violence when he was in his teens: he scalped a youngster who teased him and felt nothing but 'self satisfaction'.
MacIntyre also meets Mark Clinton outside Glasgow High Court as the case against him for fatally stabbing a rival gang member collapses. Over the following weeks Clinton reveals his capacity for remorseless violence. For him stabbing someone is the 'easiest thing in the world to do', once he stabbed someone so hard the blade snapped.
A chilling insight into the gang wars that have raged in Glasgow for the last fifteen years. The programme features full and frank access with self confessed hitmen as they seek dominance of Glasgow's ruthless underworld. Paul Ferris talks about how he was betrayed by Glasgow's godfather and how he sought his revenge. Mark Clinton proudly shows off his various stab wounds, over eighteen in all, as he takes Donal MacIntyre on an amazing tour of a criminal world never before seen on television.
