MacIntyre's Underworld:
Gangster

Aware that his actions in any one day could see him locked away for the rest of his life Dominic Noonan a.k.a Mr Lattlay Fottfoy lays himself bare to documentary scrutiny from investigative reporter Donal MacIntyre. There has never been a film quite like this and there has never been a gangster quite like Dominic Noonan.

Dominic Noonan has over forty convictions and has spent 22 of his 40 years in 27 different prisons across Britain. But even locked up and in solitary confinement Dominic was a dangerous man. Whilst inside he was a commander of the Prisoners Liberation Army; an army dedicated to attacking the prison system and which led a violent campaign against prison officers. Dominic was also one of the architects of the infamous Strangeways prison riot. A riot which left two dead, nearly two hundred wounded and cost more than £50 million pounds.

Gangster follows Dominic into an underworld where, in the absence of police, gangsters tackle problems as diverse as noisy neighbours, unpaid drug debts and baby snatching. It reveals an alternative system of justice run by gangsters with the support of communities that have been abandoned by the police and other legitimate arms of society. It's a story of intimidation, cruelty and humour which not only reveals the dynamics of gang culture but also offers an insight into a hidden stratum of British society.

Dominic is one of fourteen children from the infamous Noonan crime family, Manchester, England. He changed his name by deed pole to Dominic Lattlay Fottfoy whilst in prison in homage to one of his father's old sayings: "Look After Those That Look After You, Fuck Off Those That Fuck Off You!" It's a name and a film you are unlikely to forget.
